The Stargreen blog thing

It's time for a Love Revolution

So says LENNY KRAVITZ, and face it, he ought to know. He owns the mixing desk from Abbey Road that the Beatles recorded all their albums on, and says he wouldn't part with it for £5 million.

We merely have tickets for his 19th Feb gig at Koko, but we'll part with them for quite reasonable prices. On sale from tomorrow.

Friday roundup

Mr Clapton on line 1 for you? Yes, it's Hard Rock Calling

This summer sees concerts in Hyde Park under the Hard Rock Cafe badge

  • Sat 28th June: ERIC CLAPTON with Sheryl Crow and John Mayer
  • Sun 29th June: THE POLICE plus KT Tunstall and Starsailor

Plus "supporting lineups to be confirmed". Police? Lineup? See what we did there?

Yazoo Reconnected

New YAZOO date: 18th June at Hammersmith, also MATCHBOX TWENTY at Wembley Arena, 1st May. Both on sale now.

The Art of Love and War: Angie Stone

"The Art of Love and War" - good Valentine's day/bad Valentine's day. Or maybe we're just talking about the title of ANGIE STONE's current album. She brings her brand of American R&B, soul, and neo soul to the Shepherd's Bush Empire on Feb 13th, so either way, you have a day to make your mind up.

Now Mostly Exhausted

The tickets, that is, for the NME shows. We have a few remaining for YOUNG KNIVES, BABYSHAMBLES, HADOUKEN, GUTTER TWINS, BLACK FRANCIS AND NINE BLACK ALPS.

Ever seen a John Waters movie or heard the Ramones?

Tickets for THE GOSSIP's 21st March gig at Shepherds Bush went on sale yesterday. Beth Ditto famously described supporting the Scissor Sisters on tour as a "soul-sucking experience", but if you're more than 9 years old (NB all under 14s must be accompanied by an adult) you should be fine.

We couldn't tell you about this yesterday, but we can now it's officially on sale:

Friday festivities

Peter Doherty

Peter Charles Doherty, AC (born 15 October 1940) is an Australian Veterinary Surgeon and researcher in the field of medicine. He received the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research in 1995, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1996, and was named Australian of the Year in 1997.

It's possible that the PETER DOHERTY who's playing the Royal Albert Hall on 26th April is someone else. Tickets go on sale on Saturday at 9am.

Richard Hawley

RICHARD HAWLEY doesn't really play at birthdays, he says. Fortunately he does really play at the Royal Albert Hall on 20th May

22 Dreams: Paul Weller tours

PAUL WELLER has announced details of a new UK tour set to take place in May.

The ex-Jam frontman will play 12 UK live dates: we've got tickets available for London's Hammersmith Apollo gig on May 21st. On sale Saturday morning.

Weller will release his next studio album, '22 Dreams', in June.

The Motor Show Music Festival

The Motor Show Music Festival is a series of concerts running alongside the multi-award winning British International Motor Show at the ExCel Centre. As the sun sets on an action-packed day at the Motor Show, the 'Honda Theatre of Dreams' Arena - described by the organisers as an intimate part-covered outdoor arena accommodating 6000 - turns into the 'Motor Show Music Festival'.

Acts include

Tickets on sale here, Friday 9am.

Stargreen News by email

If you're one of the select few already reading this in your email inbox, you can skip this bit. If you're not (which is understandable, as we've hardly told anyone it exists yet), Stargreen Box Office are pleased to announce our new Front Page News email list: you can now have all our front page news (including, somewhat self-referentially, this article) sent straight to you by electronic mail.

Simply go to account info, then click on address details and tick the "Stargreen News" box. And then if and when you tire of it, repeat the process and untick. You'll need to register with the site, but you've done that already if you've ever bought tickets through it before.

P.S. Apologies to users of retro mail clients that don't support HTML email , but we don't yet have a plain-text variant of this. But you're probably happier with the RSS feed anyway.

Two nights for One Night Only

ONE NIGHT ONLY are, slightly confusingly, playing a second night: the 26 February gig next week is now sold out, but you can see them at ULU on 20th May.

Right About Now: Fatboy Slim is rocking in London

FATBOY SLIM, The Artist Formerly Known As Quentin Leo Cook, is playing Hyde Park on Saturday 5th July, as part of the O2 Wireless Festival. Support acts, we hear, include UNDERWORLD and BOOTSY COLLINS. On sale now.

Catwoman at the Pigalle: Eartha Kitt

"The most exciting woman in the world", said Orson Welles. EARTHA KITT, actress, singer, and cabaret star, starred as Catwoman in the 1960s Batman TV series and is probably best known for the Christmas song "Santa Baby". She appears at the Pigalle Club on Wednesday, 23 April. Standing and Dining tickets both on sale already, so hurry down the chimney.

Just about as funky as you can be - Counting Crows

Fresh from the Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium, COUNTING CROWS headline the O2 Wireless Festival at Hyde Park on Sunday July 6th. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

They also have a new album next month: Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings is released in the UK on 24th March.

We all want something beautiful.

You look good when your heart is on fire

THE CHARLATANS play the Forum on 15th May. Tickets from 9am Friday.

Also on sale tomorrow -

Nick Cave: new date 9th May

"From that point I saw that music could be an evil thing, a beautiful, evil thing" - Nick Cave on Johnny Cash

NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS have announced a third London date: 9th May 2008 at the Hammersmith Apollo. Tickets on sale already.

Waters, Hucknall, REM and USM

All on sale Friday

  • ROGER WATERS - will perform Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety for the last time ever, at the O2 Arena on 18th May.

  • HUCKNALL is Mick's new European summer tour to support his eagerly anticipated debut solo studio album "Tribute To Bobby". The Bobby in question is the enormously influential African-American singer Bobby "Blue" Bland, the album is released on May 19th, and Hucknall plays IndigO2 on July 9th.

  • REM's album Accelerate is released March 31st. Tickets for their 30th August gig at Twickenham are released on Friday.

  • CARTER USM seem to be making an annual event of their Brixton Academy gig: in 2008 it's 22nd November.

Also showing:

Wakestock: Abersoch and Blenheim

WAKESTOCK is described on the event publicity as "Europe's largest Wakeboard and Music festival". Gets our approval, even if we suspect there aren't a whole lot of other contenders for the title just yet.

Anyway: the first bit is 27th-29th June at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill near Oxford. The second bit is 4th-6th July at Abersoch, which is a village in North Wales we're told has "a certain special something that is very difficult to describe in words". That may be a reference to Groove Armada, The Streets, Funeral for a Friend, Duffy, the Hoosiers and the Young Knives, but we're guessing probably not.

Wakeboarding is the world's fastest growing watersport with over 3 million participants worldwide. WAKESTOCK tickets for both venues are on sale Friday 9am.

What KT did next: Hammersmith

KT TUNSTALL is at the Hammersmith Apollo, on Fri 11th April. Tickets on sale now.

Note carefully: not to be confused with Katie Melua. "I had that Paul McKenna come up to me once and he said, 'I love that song of yours about bicycles.' So I said to McKenna, 'And I loved the stunt you did in that glass box above the Thames.'"
