The Stargreen blog thing

Brett Anderson

BRETT ANDERSON was born in Haywards Heath and "spent much of his childhood playing sports and becoming a rock star". More famously, he was in Suede (now disbanded) and then the Tears ("on indefinite hiatus") and now he's playing solo. Shepherd's Bush Empire, 30th September

Calling collect

If you've ever bought tickets or made other mail order purchases which need a signature on delivery, you'll know how annoying it can be when you're out when the post comes. You get a card and then you need to find the delivery office and get there at a time it's open. Sometimes you don't even get a card and you just have to guess that the postie has been and gone.

Regular customers may have already noticed that we've been trialling ticket collections on some events for the past few months. We're now extending this to all gigs that we would usually send by recorded ("Signed for") delivery: when you get to the Checkout page, simply select the "Collect" option and when we get your tickets (usually they're printed by the promoter or venue and sent on to us) we'll hold them at our shop for collection Don't forget to bring the credit card you booked with so we're able to release the tickets to you.

Friday

Not sure whether it's the new onsales list or there's some kind of hidden message.

  • TRAVIS - 8th October - Astoria
  • DISTURBED - 4th October - Brixton
  • NME ROCK AND ROLL RIOT TOUR Ft. PRIMAL SCREAM - 28th November
  • UNDERWORLD second date - 31st October at Brixton
  • and owing to credit card problems (not ours, of course!) a few HYLANDS PARK V FESTIVAL tickets are available now. Get them while they're hot - metaphorically speaking.

Travis are disturbed by primal screaming at the NME tour. Dark nights are unpleasant for strangers to travel. Et cetera

Zutons/Cut Copy/Biffy Clyro

Word's got around: STEREOPHONICS

The STEREOPHONICS have announced details of a forthcoming 'Best Of' album and UK arena tour. 'Decade In The Sun: The Best Of Stereophonics' is said to feature 20 songs spanning the band's career, including two new tracks, and is released on November 17. Then a month later on 20th December they'll be showing up at the O2. Tickets go on sale Thursday morning.

NICK CAVE

NICK CAVE: Does he think he's getting too old to rock at 50? "Yeah, I do think that sometimes. I mean, the whole fame thing is incredibly undignified, anyway. You're allowing yourself to be exposed. A lot of it you can get away with because you're young, but you should know better by the time you reach 50. But, for me, I get such huge benefits for my own psyche, creating, working, that it doesn't at the moment seem an option to do anything about that."

New dates 29th and 30th November, at The Troxy: tickets on sale Friday morning

THE PRODIGY

THE PRODIGY will be heading out on the road again in December, performing a 6-date tour called the 'Invaders Academy Tour'. They say: "After the two club shows we did in Sheffield and Birmingham earlier this year, we want to carry on that buzz with some smaller shows for the fans ahead of next years full-on album tour. Respect."

Tickets for their Brixton Academy dates (12th and 13th Decem ber) will be on sale here, Thursday 21st August.

Aimee Anne Duffy

Says DUFFY: 'They often ask, "Where did you get your voice from?". How do you answer that? I wish I could say something exciting like, "I found it hidden in a box under my mother's bed labelled 'Voice'," but it's just my voice! It's like asking someone with brown eyes where they got them.'

If only they'd asked "Where do you get tickets from?", we could have answered that. Tickets for Duffy's 8th and 9th December gigs at Brixton are on sale here from Friday 10am.

Pre-Vee

If you're lost and looking for the V FESTIVAL presales, you can find them here

I predict a queue : KAISER CHIEFS

"It's good we've got our weirdness back" says Ricky Wilson of the KAISER CHIEFS about their new album. They got gigs too: 20th and 21st October at the Forum

Here comes that day: Siouxsie

That day, specifically, being 29th September. SIOUXSIE, now without Banshees (and without surname either, it looks like) plays at KOKO. On sale Friday 9am.

The event promoters tell us she's on stage at 8.15pm prompt.

Ne Yo

NE-YO , with special guest TAIO CRUZ, is at Hammersmith Apollo on 22 September. On sale from 9:30 Friday

SLIPKNOT

SLIPKNOT released their new album All Hope Is Gone last week. Drummer Joey Jordison: "It's going to be heavier than 'Vol. 3...' but just as weird and as experimental."

They also have new live dates: tickets for their 1st and 2nd Dec Hammersmith gigs go on sale Wednesday morning. Support acts are MACHINE HEAD & CHILDREN OF BODOM, and word is that "the support billing is huge on this", so expect decent sets from them.

Fratellis: December 14th,15th

THE FRATELLIS - Jon, Barry and Mince - have been described as "the missing link between T Rex and The Libertines". Get them at the ROUNDHOUSE 14th and 15th December - tickets on sale already.

BLOODCLOT!

We've had a few calls asking if this was postponed, and have now checked with the promoter: the BLOODCLOT! gig that we've listed as 31st August is going ahead on (surprise) the 31st August. The humoral coagulation is proceeding as planned.

Friday Fun
